Outdoor Maintenance - Emmaus

Description

Emmaus supports people to work their way out of homelessness, providing meaningful work, training, support and a stable home for as long as someone needs it. This gives people the opportunity to take stock of their lives, deal with any issues they might have, and often re-establish relationships with loved ones. Emmaus Suffolk has a number of shops, cafes and community spaces in Ipswich which offer employment.

We had a productive morning at Emmaus' social enterprise on Dales Road.

The Dales Road site offers a community garden open to the public who wish to get some space and tranquillity.

The morning started with the all-important coffee, networking and a discussion with Emmaus about the fantastic work they do in the community. 

The Do Good volunteers spent the morning making a difference in the communal space. The wildflower garden was a little overgrown so our volunteers thinned out the area, saved the poppies and created a more inviting space for both visitors and insects. We also gave the garden furniture a spruce up with a lick of paint.

We were proud to leave the area looking much smarter!

Well done to our fantastic attendees as not only did you spend the morning giving back to the community, we also raised a fantastic £70 in booking fees which will be heading straight to Emmaus.
